The Hero the World Almost Forgot Courage at the heart of darkness, and a love that could not be hidden. Dear Fredy tells the remarkable story of Fredy Hirsch — a young Jewish Zionist and openly gay man who became a beloved leader to thousands of children in the Theresienstadt Ghetto. In Auschwitz, he established a daycare center for 600 children, preserving a fragile sense of humanity where almost none remained. Through animation, testimonies, and rare archival materials, the film explores his extraordinary life, the mystery surrounding his death, and his enduring legacy. Participated in more than fifty festivals.
